Hey bestie. Thanks for coming to check out this section…it’s all about me!
♫ In Bloemfontein, born and raised, on the playground was where I spent most of my days ♫
After school I studied Drama at the University of Stellenbosch and went on to do my Honours and Master’s Degrees in Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town. I perform in both Afrikaans and English and I’ve co-written 3 one woman shows. In 2009 I won SABC’s ‘So You Think You’re Funny’- a stand-up comedy competition for new acts and my mom was totes proud! Since then I have performed on some of the biggest comedy stages in the country including Kings and Queens of Comedy and Blacks Only.
As an MC I have hosted some of SA’s top events including the You Magazine Spectacular Awards (2014 & 2015), Bookmarks Digital Awards (2015 &2016), KykNet Silwerskermfees, ATKV Awards, MK Music Awards and many more.
Corporate clients include Old Mutual, Standard Bank, ADT, Sunday Times, TEDx, Revlon and more!
I’m co-host The Great South African Bake Off on BBC Lifestyle where I get to taste a whole bunch of fancy cakes that I’ll never be able to make myself.
The Anne Hirsch Show is South Africa’s number one (s)talk show, hosted by none other than the*#ROFLMBOFOMF me, on YouTube! I’ve interviewed over 40 of South Africa’s top celebrities, like Helen Zille, Gareth Cliff, Jack Parow, Marc Lottering, Karen Zoid, Anele Mdoda and Zelda La Grange . The show sets a new benchmark in South African online media production in terms of technical quality and content #Winning.
The Anne Hirsch Radio Show, a version of the online show, was syndicated on JacarandaFM, East Coast Radio and OFM and was nominated for an MTN Radio Award for Best Night Time show in 2013.
I also hosts the weekly Youtube show, FOBLO written and directed by Oliver Hermanus.
In 2013 I was crowned one of Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year and one of Cosmopolitan’s Awesome Women. As a comedy writer, I contribute to various publications and in 2014 I won a SAFTA for Best Comedy Writing for ZANEWS and I was included in the Mail & Guardian’s list of Top 200 Young South Africans.
Oh, and did I mention Angelina Jolie is my best friend?
